The PBGV is a small rustic hound that was developed in the Vendee region of France. They hunt small game such as rabbits usually in small packs. Though today in the US, they rarely have the chance to hunt, the breed has maintained a strong hunting instinct. They are very much a scent hound, so must be kept secure at all times, as they will follow their noses. They can be spirited and high energy. They are not a breed that suits everyone's home and lifestyle.
